Pets

The CC&Rs state only that, “A reasonable number of common household pets may be kept on each Lot.” Dogs must be on leashes in the common area, and under the owner’s control. Do not allow your cats to roam in the common area. Owners are responsible for picking up waste. There is a bag station next to the tennis courts on Commons Drive south of Vanderbilt. Bags are provided by volunteer dog-owners, not the Association. The Facility Technician for Nepenthe does, as a courtesy, empty the waste stations. Remember that leaving pet food outside (including nuts and seeds for birds) can attract rats, skunks, raccoons, coyotes and other wild animals that may be a threat to pets and to humans.

Bi-monthly meetings for dog walkers are held at the Campus Commons Clubhouse. Members collect donations to purchase baggies for waste stations on Commons Drive and Hartnell Place. Members who own dogs are not required to join. For information, contact Connie Eaton at (916) 922-8553 or ConnieEaton@sbcglobal.net.

There are three public dog parks within three miles of Nepenthe. One is in Howe Community Park at 2201 Cottage Way. Another is University Dog Park at 1701 University Ave. The third is in Creekside Nature Area 2641 Kent Ave. Parking and admission are free. Rules are posted at the parks.
